
Genre #1: Brochure


I chose to use a brochure as a product of remediation for paper 2 to highlight the positive perspectives of Silicon Valley. The purpose of a brochure is to persuade, inform, or educate. I have used both persuasional and informational methods for this brochure by promoting and advertising Silicon Valley as a location and community. The beginning of the brochure focuses on a brief informational statement about the purpose of Silicon Valley and continues on to showcase the benefits that Silicon Valley provides. Pictures and quotes are used to give the reader a visual separation and stimulate interest. Positive quotes from high professionals promoting the culture of Silicon Valley are used and divided throughout the brochure.
This choice is intended to offer the concept of Silicon Valley as a selling point, product and utopia. I believe that this in return focuses on an audience who already views Silicon Valley as a community with endless benefits and resources. The brochure only furthers their perspective by influencing them through the friendly and inviting tone. Logos is used to persuade my audience through reasoning as well as a small amount of ethos through the simple and organized layout as well as quotes from CEOs and professionals from Silicon Valley itself.
