I presented on a film, Knocked Up, in my multicultural film class this semester. One part of the presentation took a focus on the genre, the characteristics of the genre, and how the film took fulfilled those characteristics. The film is a romantic comedy and when exploring what a romantic comedy entails, I found that there can be various genres with different categories and that the definition of a genre can vary depending on the context. This presentation helped me decide the direction I took in the first paper on genres. I also applied the knowledge I gained from the presentation on the activity we did in class on what defines genre and how we use it in everyday life.
