Paper 1: Personal Genre Essay The Genre of Persuasion
The first paper we constructed, the personal genre essay, was probably the most difficult because the topic of genre is so wide and varied. Once I found the direction I wanted to go, the writing process became easier. I decided to use persuasion as my genre of choice. I believe that persuasion is a genre that many people overlook but is extremely important because if we let it, it can control our lives and influence us in positive and negative ways.

Paper 2: Silicon Valley:
Tech Capital of the World?
I had a blast writing this paper! I loved that we had the chance to choose the topic we wanted to research and I have always particularly been interested in Silicon Valley. This paper encouraged me to further my research beyond the basics for this paper and I honestly might not have continued the research if it wasn't for ENC 2135. The most interesting thing that I found while conducting the research was that Taiwan has a very powerful technology industry due to the many resources backing up its success. Taiwan has a lot of business points that we could learn from in improving the tech industry here in America.

Paper 3: Composition in Three Genres
The three genres that I chose to represent and relate the claims used in paper 2 each portray a perspective of Silicon Valley. Genre #1, the brochure, shows the positive perspective of how Silicon Valley is a wonderland that will provide only the best resources. Genre #2, the satirical article, displays the negative aspects of Silicon Valley of how many people build up the idea of what Silicon Valley should be rather than the reality of what it is. Finally, Genre #3, the poster, conveys both the positive and negative features of Silicon Valley by comparing and contrasting them in a visual manner.
